GMS is a partnership of five companies dedicated to helping Global Fund grantees find the solutions they need to successfully manage their grants and fight the destructive effects of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
Led by Management Sciences for Health (MSH) as the prime contractor, the GMS project includes Abt Associates, Futures Group International, International Program Assistance, Inc., and MIDEGO, Inc.
Management Sciences for Health
MSH works collaboratively with health care policymakers, managers, providers, and consumers to help close the gap between what is known about public health problems and what occurs to solve them. More than 1,000 MSH employees across the globe are working to increase the effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability of health services by improving management systems, promoting access to services, and influencing public policy.
MSH activities focus on the following issues:
- Educating health care managers, providers, and consumers through technical assistance, training, publications, electronic media, and conferences
- Applying practical management skills to public health problems in the public and private sectors
- Strengthening the technical, management, and leadership capabilities of individuals and institutions through collaborative work and training programs
- Applying and replicating innovations in health management.
Abt Associates is one of the largest for-profit government and business research and consulting firms in the world, with more than 1,000 employees in 7 offices in the United States and 30 countries. Abt Associates delivers practical, measurable, high-value-added results to a wide range of issues in social, economic, and health policy; international development; and clinical trials and registries.
Abt Associates’s work includes research, evaluation and technical assistance related to improving the effectiveness of government programs, the efficacy of new pharmaceuticals, the cost-effectiveness of environmental regulations, the usefulness of new education strategies, the efficiency of health care systems, the incidence and prevalence of diseases, and the effectiveness of customer satisfaction and market positioning strategies.

International Program Assistance, Inc.
IPA, founded in January 2006, provides international services in the following areas:
- Strengthening program management systems
- Designing and implementing grants management systems
- Starting up field offices
- Addressing sustainability
- Monitoring and evaluating program results
- Forging networks and alliances
- Advising on resource control and expansion
- Curriculum development and training.
IPA applies practical solutions to problems associated with grants management, procurement and contracting, financial management, policies and procedures, curriculum development, and training for staff of nongovernmental organizations and foreign governments.
In 2005, MIDEGO, Inc. brought to life a new concept in global health and development consulting, combining the guiding principles of a strong business model with the spirit and passion of an NGO. With a mantra of “quality, efficiency, and consistency,” the MIDEGO team adds value to their partners' and clients' work by helping them achieve cost-effective results that are easily and rapidly scaled up.
